Good morning everyone! I sent out my exchange piece for the HoE Autumn Exchange on Saturday. I was given Lee of Stitchy Fish as my stitching partner.

Looking online for cute autumn themed biscornus, I ran across a squirrel and acorn biscornu and knew I had to stitch it up. I had found some brown buttons to finish it with.

I wanted to 'dress' up the packaging of my biscornu and found a lovely crochet pattern for a maple leaf by Happy Berry. I used the leaf I crocheted and some orange/white baker's twine for the outside of my package.

Celtic Biscornu

This is the Celtic biscornu I mentioned earlier. It actually calls for two shades of the same color thread. I thought I was going to use two colors of emerald green, but after stitching a little of the interior, I found that I like the design as an outline instead of fully colored.

I was hoping that I had a different color for the buttons, but I only had Christmas green colored buttons in my stash. I suppose it will have to do.

Now I have cross stitch patterns to 'finish' this week and then start on the final block of Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's OUAT sampler.

Good evening everyone! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family :)

On Tuesday, I started another Christmas stitching project. I decided to look online for a Dr. Who biscornu pattern to make for my friend Nicole. Luckily, I ran across a cross stitcher on deviantart who had a freebie pattern for a Tardis design. 

With a short holiday from work, I was able to finish stitching my biscornu today. I thought I was going to run out of the blue DMC 798 color, but I had just enough to whip stitch the edges! The thread gods were merciful as I was hoping I wouldn't have to go to my local craft store on Black Friday for more thread! 

I've got one more Christmas stitching project this season. I will be making another biscornu. My friend Candace loves Celtic designs and I found a beautiful Celtic heart design that I will start tomorrow after I come home from pulling our Christmas tree and decorations out of storage.

Horn of Plenty

My aunt wanted me to stitch up this design from one of the JCS magazines that caught her eye in September. It's slow stitching for sure! There are a lot of color changes throughout so I'll be working on this design for a while.

There are so many symbols in the chart that I'm doing something I've never done before, highlighting my chart after I stitch an area. Without that I would be completely lost!

In other news, I've joined Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's It's a Kawaii Winter Wonderland weekly stitching pattern. Until early November, the pattern is only $10 for 25 small designs! You get 5 patterns each week of November to make a cute sampler. Definitely worth the price. I loved the pattern that Carla at CC's Stitching Diary has been working on with monthly kawaii desserts/sweets that I knew I wanted to sign up for FPS' new design series.

Wonderland Rabbit biscornu and BIG NEWS!

Hi, everyone! I was able to whip stitch my biscornu together this morning before work. I don't have many 'cute' buttons in my stash so I opted for lime green ones from a mixed bag of Halloween buttons.

By the way, I have BIG NEWS!! While posting about my friend's birthday gifts, I noticed that it was my 500th post on my blog. How awesome is that? I would say awesome!

What you do when there is a tropical storm....

Lots of stitching and reading of course :) I finished reading Seeing a Large Cat by Elizabeth Peters and started Heartless by Gail Carriger. In terms of stitching, I finished this design. I hope to make it into biscornu for my collection. It is another Korean pattern. I couldn't resist the bunnies and the Alice in Wonderland theme!

Dans Mon Jardin biscornu

I put the last whip stitches on this biscornu a little while ago. This was a fun design to stitch and try my hand at making a 15-sided biscornu. The only downside was the bumpiness of the design even though I trimmed the edges inside.

In other news, I had pre-ordered the JSC Halloween Collection book from Down Sunshine Lane last month and I received it in the mail on Friday. I was excited to get a book from JSC full of Halloween designs, but when I received it I was a little disappointed. The last section of the book is the 'best of the best' past Halloween ornaments from JSC magazine. I would have rather seen more new designs and left that whole section out. People who buy the Halloween magazine issues when they come out every year usually keep them for future use so I didn't see the point of the 'best of the best' section.

I was also disappointed in a lot of the larger designs. Maybe I'm just biased because I'm not a fan of designs on Aida or that involve a lot of backstitching as it makes the design look 'amateurish.' But that is just my opinion.

I will be stitching some of the designs from the book so no worries :)

Hi, everyone! I finished up this biscornu last night. I made some changes to the design. I didn't care much for the castles on the front of the biscornu or the cat characters on the back of the biscornu so I decided not to stitch them. I still like the design as it is with the characters by themselves and the Wizard of Oz title on the back. I added ruby-colored buttons to the center.

In other news, our computer has a crazy virus so I'm posting now using my laptop. Hopefully, we can get the computer up and running soon!

Also, I received some patterns in the mail today from Down Sunshine Lane. I ordered two of JBW's new designs and two patterns from Jardin Prive. I can't wait to start on some of them :)

Hi again! I managed to finish my Little Witch biscornu a few moments ago. I made a change to other side, but it looks great.

For the back of the biscornu, I stitched the border with the pumpkins, but skipped out on stitching the interior area. I decided that I want to use a small button in the center on the front and a larger one of the bottom in the center (hence the small green thread to mark the spot). I plan on looking for some cute buttons this weekend.

Biscornu finish....almost O_o"

Hi, everyone! I have finished stitching together my biscornu, but now I'm on the hunt for some buttons for it. I've been through my grandmother's box of buttons and despite all the lovely vintage buttons in there, I didn't see anything that matched the colors of my biscornu.

Well, I might have to wait until this weekend when I can go by my local Hancock's and see what they have in terms of colorful buttons. Sorry, you'll have to wait for photos until then.

Violet finish!

Hi, everyone! I just finished stitching the violet biscornu design. I hope to finish the design as a biscornu soon.

The design actually called for gold Kreinik blending filament #002, but you know how I feel about metallics....not sure if this was a metallic thread or not, but as my local craft didn't carry it I wasn't too concerned about it. I opted for two strands of DMC 729 for the backstitching filigree work in the flowers :)

Violet biscornu start!

I started this lovely design last night after I got home from the convention. I finished it this evening. Tomorrow I hope to start on the other side of the biscornu.

A Surprise Revealed

I sent a box full of Valentine's goodies to a dear friend of mine in CA. I promised her that I wouldn't go crazy with candy this year. One half of the package is candy, the other half is handmade crafts: the Amour pinkeep, Heart biscornu, and two cell phone charms that I made.

I couldn't post a picture of the package until now since my friend didn't receive it until Monday. Late, I know, but at least it got there, right?!

Isn't it cute? I've posted a picture of the biscornu beside a glass rooster that belongs to my mother so you see how small this little cutie is! It measures about 2 1/2" in size.

First finish of February!

Hi, everyone! Happy February! I was able to start and finish a small design today.

I just finished ironing the pieces. Tomorrow morning I will put fray-check around the edges before finishing the design as a biscornu. I love this little freebie by Lenka! Isn't it cute? I thought it was perfect for Valentine's Day!

Hopefully I'll have pictures of my finish later on tomorrow night. Tomorrow after work, I'll be teaching a friend of mine how to make beaded cell phone charms.
