Autumn display and activities

Hi, everyone! For those of you on the Gulf Coast, I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather as much as I am! My favorite season has finally made its appearance not only outside, but inside as well.

While taking a picture of my Pumpkin Patch design, I decided that I needed to change the living room display from playful bunnies and a pitcher full of hydrangeas to some of my autumn items from last year ;)

Speaking of Fall and all the fun things to do during the season, for those of you that live in Ontario there is an event called The Victoriana Show: A Celebration of Elegance coming up. I picked up the latest issue of Romantic Homes this evening at Target because it had some lovely ideas for stitchery gifts and I ran across the ad for the Victoriana Show. I'm so jealous!!! The show runs from October 22-24. For those who are interested, the website is www.victorianashow.com.

(sigh) Well, I'm not too disappointed. The local museum in town is hosting two new exhibitions towards the end of the month, American Landscapes and Illustrating Fairytales! I can't wait.....especially for the Fairytale exhibition! One of my favorite children's illustrators is in the exhibition, Kinuko Y. Craft ^___^

Until next time!! Have fun with your fall activities!!

April finish

Today, I decided to finish two designs that I stitched in March into pillows. After some crazy mishaps with the sewing machine, my mother conquered her nervousness about sewing and stitched together the Good Luck Block design on the right. I stitched together The Lion and the Lamb design on the left. My aunt was good enough to blind stitch the pillows for me as my blind stitching is horrible. (She said we will have a sewing lesson soon to show me how to blind stitch!~)

I also made several more cell phone charms, which I don't have a photo of yet as I don't really have a way to display them. When I find a way then I'll have photos :)

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend!

Until next time ^_____^

A Little Luck

Design: Good Luck Block by Helga Mandl
Fabric: 28ct antique white linen M.C.G Textiles
Threads: DMC 367, 562, 727, 3805
Start/Finish: 3/2/2010

Looking through old issues of GOS, I found this adorable design for St. Patrick's Day! Isn't it cute? The original design called for Aida fabric, but as I can't work on Aida to save my life, I used some linen in my stash. I also substituted the recommended metallic thread with DMC 727 as I can't work with metallics either!!

Until next time ^____^

Autumn Has Come

Design: Autumn Has Come by Helga Mandl - GOS Sept. 09
Threads: DMC
Fabric: 28ct antique white linen by M.C.G. Textiles
Start: 9/6/2009

This pattern seems apt for the changing weather on the Gulf Coast. It is still warm during the days, but the mornings are getting cooler with an abundance of squirrels wandering around gathering acorns.

I couldn't resist starting this pattern after seeing it in the latest issue of GOS. It features a cute squirrel, pumpkins, fall leaves, and acorns.

I hope everyone in the States is having a great Labor Day weekend!

Until next time!
