Cherry Love

One of my projects for this rainy Saturday. The pattern comes from Aronzi Aronzo's Cute Stuff book.

What do you think? It's a tissue holder ;)

I had a hard time with the sewing machine over this one.....LOL.....the bobbin always gives me trouble. I asked for help and my mother made it look like I was a complete idiot.....thanks a lot!

What else do I have planned for the day? Hmm....I think some BBC dramas are in order and perhaps some cross stitching!

Until next time ^_____^

Lucky Cat

Another attempt at Stray Sock Sewing. This time I tried an easier project, the lucky cat. I stitched him up yesterday afternoon while watching the Sherlock Holmes series with Ronald Howard and H. Marion Crawford that I received for Christmas.

Until next time ^____^

It's an alien!

At least that was the thought that ran through my head when I finished sewing the final stitches on my rabbit last night. A friend of mine bought me a copy of Stray Socks Too for my birthday last year and I finally got around to making one of those projects from the book. Sadly, my rabbit looks nothing like the baby bunny in the book as it is suppose to be small, pudgy, and cute....mine looks like an alien!!

I definitely need some more practice and I really think that the term 'baby sock' is subjective. I'll have to look out for some nice toddler sized socks for my next venture as baby socks didn't really work for me for this project.

My rabbit has found a home with my mother as she loved it despite its 'alien' looks. But you know, I think mothers must say they like something that their children make. It's a habit ingrained in them since their children were in kindergarten!! And here I thought it was gone :P

Until next time ^____^

Sewing ♥

Hi, everyone! With the day off, I decided to get some laundry done and stitch up some pillows between loads.

As you can see I haven't attempted to stuff and blind stitch them up yet. I think I'll wait until tomorrow to do that. But I must say, that I'm quite proud of myself....I almost gave up after the first pillow when I lost the bobbin thread. After ten minutes of looking for our manual to the sewing machine (an old Montgomery Ward), I decided to go online and look at some videos. It took me about five minutes of fiddling with the bobbin, but I finally got it sorted out! O_o"

In other news, I haven't started my Christmas stitching yet. I plan on folding clothes and reading more of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I can't wait for the movie next week! As a professed bookworm, I love book movies :) I love seeing how a director interprets the text and what angle they decide to go with.

Hope you have a great day!

Until next time ^____^

Egads.....wish me lots of luck!

I went through my stitched project drawer and was amazed by all the finished designs that I stored away to 'finish' in the future! Egads!!!

I spent the afternoon cutting fabric for a number of pillow finishes. Please wish me lots of luck, I get really nervous when it comes to sewing!! I plan on sewing tomorrow....if I don't run away screaming in terror.

Until next time O_o"

A fun birthday!

Hi, everyone!

Yesterday was a day full of birthday surprises. My family asked what I would like for my birthday...cake or pie?! LOL I asked for chocolate chip cookies. I haven't had homemade cookies in many, many years! I think the last time I made them, they were for a college club bake sale ;)

My mother was suppose to make the cookies herself, but I couldn't resist and jumped into the kitchen to help ;)

A plate of warm cookies!

Geeky goodies for a BBC and history lover like myself!!

Craft gift card, a Kirks Folly 'Cheshire cat' pin, and a lovely Jim Shore figurine of a fairy on spool of thread with a needle in hand! Don't you love her thimble hat?!

A lovely pair of 'reading mittens' made by aunt Snowbird!

The pièce de résistance!! Are you ready for this?!?!? Because I wasn't when I opened the bag that contained this!

A 20th century sewing box made in Romania! Isn't it lovely? My aunt found it online.

I had a fun birthday. I've already spent the day watching Return to Cranford and plan on watching the DVD on Charles Dickens too!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Until next time ^____^

Merry Autumn

Hi, everyone!! I stitched up a small JBW design today and finished it as a doorknob hanger.

Design: A Very Merry Autumn by JBW Designs
Threads: DMC 720 and 741
Fabric: 28ct cream Zweigart
Start/Finished: 10/9-10/2009

What do you think? I wish I had made the seam allowance a bit wider so that you could see the bottom edge of the design, but I think it turned out well since it's my first attempt at this finish with ribbon ;) My blind stitching is still 'below average,' but I hope to get better at it with more finishes that call for it!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. Sadly, we are still having weather in the 80s.....no fall temps yet. I hope it will get cooler by the time Halloween comes around.

Until next time ^_____^

Pesky blind stitch!

Hi, everyone! I've spent part of the day helping my sister do some school research and then sewing together some pillows out of my small cross stitch designs.

I stitched up two Christmas designs, which turned out to be disasters, but at least they were small designs so I can always stitch them again ;)

I had more success with my Autumn Has Come design.

What do you think? I did better on the blind stitch on this pillow than on the other two designs. I think the next time I sew a pillow I'm going to start going around so that my blind stitched area will be on the bottom ;)

Not bad for my third try at this stitch today! I'm not even going to show you the other two as they are the craziest things you will ever see O_o"

Until next time!

Autumn Harvest finish!

Look what I made on Saturday!!

I actually SEWED this pillow! I was so nervous, but with the encouragement of my family, I was able to finish it without running away from the sewing machine in terror!

Until next time!
