Good evening everyone! I hope all the moms, aunts, grandmas, etc. had a wonderful Mother's Day today. I presented my mom with the geranium design I had stitched up by Mill Hill. She liked it. I think she might put it on her dresser next to her plants. My sister got our mom a weaving book, a llama mug, and chocolates (our mom has a thing about llamas - if she was a millionaire, she'd own llamas! LOL).

I got my aunt the new Landscapes of Anne of Green Gables book and my sister got her a book and some chocolates (can't go wrong with Godiva chocolates!!).

I spent the day stitching, which was nice after yesterday. Spent a lot of money at the tire shop on new tires and two new oil gaskets. Ugh......why do car repairs have to be so expensive? If we can have health insurance and even pet insurance, why can't we have car insurance for repairs?!?! Not accident repairs, but you know 'wear and tear' repairs. Sigh.....

It had to be done....doesn't mean I have to like it!!

Anywho, back to stitching. I'm liking the pattern so far. Luckily it comes with a color and black/white copy so I can go between the two as I stitch. I tried to highlight the color copy as I go along, but with some of the darker colored squares, I couldn't see if I had highlighted anything so now I'm using both the color and black/white copies to work from.

I have been watching Flosstube while stitching for the most part. I have gotten addicted to Emily C of 'Eclectic Possessions Cross Stitch'. She's a stitcher from Georgia. I love her accent. (Yes, I said I love her accent - I'm a Southerner without an accent so I love hearing them).

She has some lovely projects that she has worked on in the past several years. I wish I had her fabric stash!!!

Wishing you a great work week!

Until next time ^____^

Start/Finish: 4/22-5/6/2018
<strike></strike>
Good evening everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. My weekend was so-so. I went by the oil change place to get my car's oil changed and its coolant refilled. I came away with notes about needing new tires, a possible oil gasket replacement, and the coolant hoses looked at.

Sigh......so I'll have to take my car in on Saturday to get new tires and the oil gasket looked at. If they can get that done, I'll see about getting the coolant hoses, etc. looked at for a leak. Seems like a lot, but doesn't really surprise me because it's a 12 year old car. LOL

So after all that 'good' news, I went by Hobby Lobby and bought threads for a new cross stitch project and I broke my diet by getting a Frappuccino; my feelings needed it even if my tummy didn't.

I came home and sat down to bobbinate threads and go through my stash to see what duplicates I had. That took all day and part of this morning, but I liked the fact that I had all my threads organized. All my duplicates are in a bag. I plan on pulling them out and seeing how many I have of each color and making a list for the bag for future reference.

This afternoon I finished up the Parterre de Fleurs design! I had to change out the Bamboo color with DMC B5200 as the Bamboo threads were blending in too much.

I had two colors of Secondhand rose so I alternated on each side of the fabric. The lighter Secondhand rose had more variation in it compared to the darker shade.

I was hoping to get started on the CCN Cakes, but when I looked at the fabric I had the other cakes stitched on, I noticed that I would only have maybe about two inches left on the bottom of the fabric. That's too close for comfort so I went through my stash to see if I had any more 32ct Belfast cream linen and sadly I didn't have enough.....since I used it for the Parterre de Fleurs design.

Hobby Lobby has stopped selling a lot of their Zweigart and Wichelt fabrics so I'll have to order some Belfast online.

Well, that didn't stop me from starting a new piece or at least planning for it. I found a cute Alice in Wonderland PDF pattern on Etsy. So yesterday I got the threads I was missing and today after bobbinating and finishing up Parterre de Fleurs, I got the last of my 32ct Belfast out, ironed, and prepped.

It calls for a lot of DMC threads....about 30+, I really wish I had one of those large DMC thread rings so I could put them on there by color and number order instead of my normal project bag which is stuffed to the gills with all the threads. LOL

I hope you have a lovely week!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are having a great Sunday. No rain today, just sunny skies and a pleasant breeze. Makes me wish for a house with a screened in porch.....but then again I remember my allergies and it probably wouldn't be the best idea. LOL

I was hoping to make more progress on Parterre de Fleurs, but I got hit by the notorious stitching frog this afternoon. After I had stitched the flowers on the top, I went over to the right and started counting from my flowers to the bee wings and guess what?!? The entire row of flowers on the right side were stitched wrong.

Sigh.....how could I get an entire row wrong? The pattern. Usually Jardin Prive patterns are great, but this one, not so much. Since the flower motif repeats itself around the bee motif, the pattern only shows the bee motif, the bottom row of flowers, and the backstitch line on the bottom part.

What kind of craziness is that?!?! Ugh.........I had followed the bottom half of the pattern for the side when I should have followed the measly two rows on the side that the pattern provided to tell me where to put the flowers.......which I had assumed was the same as the bottom.

Jardin Prive needs to do better than that. Don't make people guess where two of the flowers on a row go because of two rows of two stitches......

Blah..!!!!

Anywho, after I was done frogging, I backstitched the entire border around the piece.....take that frog!!!

Hopefully I'll be able to finish up this design sometime this week. We'll see.

In other stitching news, I went through my stash to pull out threads for the Country Cottage Needlework Cakes patterns. It has been a WIP for quite a while so I thought I'd finish it up this year as my Frolicking Friday project ;)

On Friday night, we met up at Candace's house to celebrate our friend Bonnie's birthday. We had pizza, a turtle (chocolate and caramel) poke cake, and way (WAY) too many homemade chocolates.

I think she liked her gifts though she is preoccupied at the moment, for good reason. She and her family found out that her father has brain cancer so he starts radiation this week. I hope the treatment goes well.

I think they are trying to keep things as normal as possible, which is a positive thing to do. They were planning on going downtown today to take the duck boat tour around town and on the bay.

Please keep her in your thoughts! Have a great week!

Start: 4/22/2018

Good afternoon, everyone. I hope you are enjoying a lovely Sunday. It has been raining for a good portion of the day today, but we got a little bit of sunshine for about an hour or so before it clouded over again. The wind is howling as I write.

So where have I gone you ask? Well, I'm assuming you asked, LOL maybe no one has asked. You never know with the Internet world. Anywho, as I mentioned to Angela at Thoughtful Ramblings, I have let my work life influence my personal life, which has left me angry and depressed.

It hasn't gotten any better at work with a supervisor that doesn't know what she's doing more than half the time. But I've finally gotten to the stage where I don't care as much and just want to get through August when I'll have been at my workplace for 10 years so I'll be vested for retirement. After that, if things aren't looking up, I plan on looking for another job.

I don't want to look for another job as I consider my workplace coworkers (minus two individuals) to be a great bunch of people, but no one is speaking up about the hostile work environment we are in. On top of that environment is the fact that my supervisor and our main boss are doing things that aren't ethical according to our policies.

And yes, I could just ignore it, but I think that if you work in a field where ethics are important to the future of your institution and the field itself than you should abide by them. And I know I could possibly end up in another institution that is doing the same thing, but a girl can hope for better things, right?

Sigh.......ok, off the soap box! On to happier things, like cross stitching!!!

So I haven't been idle as evident by the posts below this one with my finishes so far this year :) Today I went through my stash and picked out Parterre de Fleurs which is a pincushion cross stitch design by Jardin Prive.

Looking through my DMC floss, I only had two of the required flosses and then I noticed while reading the instructions that the designer only included one set of DMC colors instead of giving you a range of colors to make each side of the pincushion different. It mentioned to just pick your own colors.......(o_0")

So looking around the Internet, I found a blog from a French stitcher who had stitched the design with one color of variegated thread for the flowers. I liked the idea so I went to my drawer of hand dyed threads and found several skeins I could use in the design. I ended up choosing Crescent Colours 'Secondhand Rose' for the flowers. I'm not sure if the variegation will show up.....but I'll try my hardest. I am even stitching each cross completely before moving on to next X.

In other news, my sister and I are going to San Diego this summer for Comic Con. We were able to get tickets for one day of the convention. I know that sounds weird, but if you know anything about the convention, it's hard to get tickets and the four day pass sells out pretty fast so the only thing left are single days. We were able to get Thursday before it sold out.

So we will be flying into the Ontario (California) airport and spending a few days with Amanda until we drive down to San Diego and spend the rest of the time there. We will be flying out of San Diego since the airport is around the corner from the convention.

Earlier this month, my sister and Amanda went through the hotel lottery to get a hotel in San Diego as a great many of them are sold out including outside the city.....not to mention sold out Airbnb places. I couldn't sign in to participate in the hotel lottery as I was at work, but guess what?!??! Amanda got the main convention hotel!!!! I think the convention gods smiled on her or maybe it's because it's the Year of the Dog...whatever it was, I'm glad she was able to get the hotel. It's insanely expensive (almost twice what it normally costs), but it means we don't have fight people for parking and if any of us has a bunch of merchandise, we can drop it off at our room and go back into the fray! LOL And who knows, we might see a Hollywood star or two since the stars stay at the main hotel.

Anywho, I hope you have a great rest of your day. I'm trying to catch up on all my blog reading and commenting ;)

Have a great work week!

Pattern: Tea Time by Mill Hill
Start/Finish: 4/9-21/2018

I saw this kit while ordering some more charts after finishing up my mother's germanium design. I was looking for something tea related and couldn't resist this fun design by Mill Hill.

I haven't worked on a truly full coverage cross stitch pattern in a while so this pattern took some time to stitch up.

I finished up beading it yesterday afternoon after I had ran errands and did some chores around the house.

I'll have to get it framed......I think I might look around and see if someone has something other than a black or gold frame!

Pattern: Happy Easter by Brooke's Books
Notions: brown felt, pink ribbon, and white lace
Start/Finish: 3/10-17/2018

I wanted to make a 'happy spring' gift for Constance and was browsing Etsy to see what I could find. As luck would have it, Brooke's Books had released several Easter egg patterns earlier this year.

The original wording is 'Happy Easter', but I changed it to 'Happy Spring.' I also changed some of the DMC colors because I didn't have all of the colors that were required and didn't have the Mill Hill beads either.

I backed it with brown felt which I had decorated with pink polka ribbon and lace trim. I took some pale pink ribbon and put a loop on top of the egg so it could be hung as an ornament.

I think my gift has arrived safely in Canada, but we'll see. It either ended up at her husband's parents' house or at their old house address. O-o"
Pattern: Germaniums by Mill Hill
Start/Finish: 2/16-3/4/2018

This is going to be a gift for my mother for Mother's Day this year. I was looking for a lovely flower kit when I was on 123stitch and it was a tossup between this design and the hydrangea kit. Since the hydrangea kit was out of stock at the time, I chose this one.

I think she'll like it. I had it framed at Hobby Lobby. I bought a frame from there, they cut some mat board for me, and framed it.

I wish Hobby Lobby had different colors of this frame besides black and gold. White would have looked lovely with the design. Yes, I know I could have painted it white, but I didn't want to ruin the frame with a paint attempt. LOL

For Amanda's package this year, I went for a tea theme for the majority of the package. The theme was actually inspired by a lovely children's book that I picked up from my local library called The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill. I think if everyone had a tea dragon in their lives, the world would be a better place.

While at the World Market, I picked up an adorable little hedgehog tea strainer and a box of teas and sugar sticks made in Russia. From Michael's, I picked up one of Caron's tea cakes in the hibiscus color and a pack of movie trivia cards since Amanda loves playing games in her off time. From Target, I found a fun horoscope mug for Virgos and then from 123stitch, I found two clear stamp sets, one with hedgehogs and the other with Christmas gingerbread.

I hope she likes everything. I had fun picking out different items to fit the tea theme. I really should have taken a picture of the wrapping paper I used!!!! Last year at Target, I found a black wrapping paper with gold octopi wearing Christmas hats! Perfect for steampunk geeks. I didn't get to use it last year.....I was happy to able to use it this year as it fit the theme :)
Pattern: Cinderella Samper by Willow Hill Samplings
Fabric: 32ct oyster linen by M.C.G. Textiles
Threads: recommended DMC
Start: 12/17/2017

The Cinderella sampler won out against the CCN cakes this time around. As you may remember (it's okay if you don't), I had bought fabric for this design from Accented Inc. when Kristina and I were in New Orleans earlier this year. After looking at it against the recommended DMC threads, it seemed too dark of a fabric. The LNS didn't have the recommended fabric color so I opted for a mocha color fabric, but it just doesn't work.

So while I was at Hobby Lobby, I bought some 32ct oyster colored linen by M.C.G. Textiles. I was hoping to buy the cream colored linen by Wichelt, but the cut of fabric was too small for the pattern (darn it!). LOL So I went with the oyster color instead.

I plan on working on this design tomorrow morning before heading over to the bowling alley for our work Christmas party. Our boss is being....well, a boss, by picking teams. My coworkers and I had already decided to form our own team; that was only reason I signed up to go. We asked one of our supervisors and he said he didn't care what we did when we got in the building. LOL

I can't wait to play. I never get together with my coworkers outside of work.

Good evening, everyone! Kristina and I took a trip to Bellingrath Gardens on Friday night after Kristina got out of work. Their Christmas light display started on November 24 and runs until the end of December.

It was a cold night. I was bundled up in a jacket, scarf, and some gloves. Luckily the walk through the lights kept you warm for the most part, unless the wind started to blow or you were near the pond.

We signed up for a tour of the Bellingrath house as well, which was beautiful. It was full of antiques and furnishings collected by the Bellingrath family. For those of you who don't know, Bellingrath made his money in Coca-Cola. He built the Bellingrath home and its gardens for his wife.

For the Christmas lights and the house tour, it was only $24. Definitely worth every penny. I told Kristina that we should come back in the spring when the gardens are in bloom.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and that you are doing something fun ;)

Pattern: Eiffel Tower by Jardin Prive
Fabric: 32ct oyster linen by M.C.G. Textiles
Threads: DMC 152, 223, 3012, and 3781
Start/Finish: 11/5-12-10/2017

I finished my Eiffel Tower design last night before dinner. I was stitching like a madwoman as I really wanted to finish it up before today. Not bad for working on and off of it for a couple of hours each day....except for the days I was being a bum and playing video games or watching movies ;)

Compared to the original color scheme, I like my colors a lot better. Not that varying colors of brown are horrible, I just wanted something soft and calming.

Hmm.....now I just gotta see what I want to stitch next. I haven't made any Christmas gifts this year, my heart and mind just isn't in the mood right now to do so. You gotta be in a cheerful mood to make gifts for the holidays otherwise it's a thankless task.

I think I'll probably pull out my CCN cakes and stitch on one of those or I might start another design. I'll have to dive into my stash and see what calls to me.

That's right! Snow in lower AL, which is usually unheard of until at least January or February and even then maybe every five+ years.

It was cold and rainy for the majority of the week and by Friday, they mentioned that we might get snow, but we figured it would be above us in the upper part of the state....where snow isn't unheard of.

Imagine our surprise when we looked out the front door at 8pm and it was snowing!

There was enough snow on the cars to make a mini snowman. I couldn't make a three ball snowman, the snow wasn't cold enough to make nice balls from anyway.
If we got snow in December does that mean we can still get snow in January or February if it gets cold enough?! It would be nice to have some days off of work ;) LOL
Good morning, everyone! I've got an older post that I meant to put up in November after it happened, but with work driving me crazy in general and to get worse news about it after Thanksgiving, my blog hasn't been on my mind lately.

My family and I went to the annual Mobile Rock and Gem Show at the Abba Temple on Black Friday. While everyone else in town was rushing around for sales, we were at the show instead.

There were a lot of informational displays on one side of the show along with their 'panning' area.

My sister persuaded me to try the 'sleuce' area. You pay $10 for a bag of dirt and you can pan it in a wire mesh box through running water.

After I did it, my sister paid for a bag as well. Later on we were able to get our mom to do it as well. LOL Needless to say we came away with a lot of minerals and gems.

My sister really wanted to pan for opals, but an opal bag was $100. Too rich for my taste.

I bought two tumbled stones, a citrine and an unakite and from another vendor I bought a beautiful clear quartz cluster. The amethyst and rose quartz were from our sleuce adventure :)

I have these beauties at work on my desk. I figure I could really use some good positive energy and what better way to promote positive energy then being able to see something beautiful beside you as you work :)

The lady who I usually buy brooches from was at the show, but I didn't see anything I really wanted in terms of brooches. She did have a gorgeous Czech glass necklace from the 1920s, but she wanted $85 and I really couldn't justify buying one item for that amount of money, especially when I usually come away with several brooches for that amount.

We had a great time. I'm sure next year's show will be fun too!

Hi, everyone! Today is my Aunt Joanne's birthday so I can finally share another finish that I had in September. When my sister and I were in New Orleans in July, I picked up some stash at Accents Inc. One of my purchases was a Mill Hill beaded cross stitch kit called Winged Monarch. My sister spotted it first in the store and we both agreed it would be a great birthday present for our aunt.

Oddly enough, according to Mill Hill kit reviews, Mill Hill's frames do not come with a backing or glass. Such a bizarre way to sell a frame, but I imagine a lot of stitchers probably want to show off the detail of their project when it's complete.

I wanted to get my project framed and went to Hobby Lobby to see if they had what I wanted. The lady who helped me was lovely. Instead of doing a custom frame job, she suggested I go and see if any frames would work for the design. Luckily I found a frame that already had a spacer inside so the stitching and beading do not touch the glass.

I think it turned out beautifully. I always forget that beading can be fun until I pick up a project that requires it ;)

Good evening. My family and I took a trip over to Gulfport, MS today to see the Celtic Music Festival and Scottish Highland Games.

We never stop at the first rest stop in MS, but we did this time. My sister accidentally hit the 'hood' button while getting gas before we started the trip so we had to stop to make sure the hood to the car was completely down!!

The restrooms at the rest stop are.....hmm.....bizarre. The water is brown in the toilets and the water in the sinks feels slimy. I'm not sure if that is the correct term for the water, but it feels like you haven't washed your hands.

The outside of the rest stop made up for the restrooms. An artist made sculptures out of trees that had fallen during Hurricane Katrina. Several of his 'tree' sculptures are at this rest stop and other places in MS.

Thirty plus minutes later and after going through some back roads of Gulfport, we arrived at the Harrison County Fairgrounds. We could hear the jousting competition starting as we were waiting in line to pay to get in. Luckily they hadn't started yet, they were introducing the horses and doing other tricks.

The jousting horses were beautiful. I always wonder if the horses with the shaggy hooves do well in southern weather. You would think they would get hot in the summer.

The bleachers were packed so we were standing on the opposite side with a few spectators, professional photographers, and volunteer police officers.

After watching the jousting, we walked over to the artisan's area. Of course, one of the first tables we came across was selling British/Welsh/Irish baked goods and desserts.

My sister persuaded me to get a bowl of bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Nothing says ruin your diet like bread pudding, but you know what? It was worth every single calorie and inch to my waistline!

I made my sister and my mom break their diets as well. No sense in me being the only bad person in the group. LOL

Periodically they had a mini parade of people playing Scottish bagpipes and drums accompanied by each clan walking in procession. It was interesting to see how few people were in the Campbell clan, but not surprising considering their history.

We saw a pen full of sheep, which was quite sad. They were terrified of everyone and were grouped together and standing completely still. Poor things! I'm sure they just wanted to go home to their nice, grassy farm.

Several vendors were demonstrating their crafts. This lovely lady had a company called The Fiber Chicken. She makes her own yarn, by spinning and dying fibers. She crochets, knits, and tats. Quite the crafty lady. She had some beautiful shawls that she had made, but they were expensive. One made of 100% alpaca was $650.

I have a feeling that she probably sells more of her yarn at $45 per skein than her handmade shawls. I don't fault her the price especially considering the process involved.

At the end of the artisan's area, there were several tents set up for 'living' history. I took a picture of older gentleman showing off the tapestry that he was working on. Talk about having a love of your craft and having the patience to complete it.
You remember the bread pudding? Well, we bought some things from two vendors who were selling sweets......traditional Welsh cakes (I love currants!!), a loaf of Irish soda bread, and an empire shortbread cookie (not pictured because....well, we ate it.....lol....but if you were wondering what it looked like, just think of a cherry bakewell tart from England. The icing reminds me of the empire shortbread topping and instead of cherry, it had strawberry jam, which was divine!)

I am hoping to persuade my friends to go with me next year to the Celtic festival or maybe one of the medieval fairs. It would be great to spend the day there. Take some food for a picnic and enjoy the performances.

I hope you all had a wonderful Saturday.
Good evening, everyone! Thank you for your lovely comments on my previous posts. I bit the bullet so to speak today and bought a new laptop. My old one still works, but I haven't used it in ages because it is still on XP......yes, really, I just typed XP. I'm hoping now that I have a new laptop, I'll be able to blog more. Trying to write blog posts on my phone or my Kindle Fire is a chore....and no one likes to have their blog be a chore instead of something fun, right?

Last Saturday, I started something new from my stash, Eiffel Tower by Jardin Prive. I wasn't able to find the crème colored linen I was looking for, but I did find an oyster color of linen, which works nicely. It isn't as bright as pure white linen.

I am using the same color palette for this design as I did for Jardin Prive Marquise design. I love the pinks and green with the dark brown.

I had the day off today from work. Slept in until 8:30, my brain wouldn't let me sleep longer. (sigh) Ate breakfast, stitched a bit, and then went out to do some shopping. I was hoping to get to try one of the new Starbucks frappuccino flavors, but the line inside and outside the store was crazy because it was the BOGO hours. I'll have to try another day when it isn't crazy ;)

Tomorrow my sister, mother, and I are going to Gulfport to the Celtic Music Festival and Scottish Highlands Games. No, you didn't read that incorrectly. I mentioned a Celtic festival in Mississippi. It should be an interesting experience. Apparently it has been held for 30+ years. Who knew that MS had such a group.

I hope everyone had a good Veteran's Day.
Pattern: Tea Time Pumpkin Coasters by Ira Rott
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft
Hook: Size H

Good morning everyone! "Another glorious morning! It makes me sick!!" LOL Had to throw in some Hocus Pocus humor since it's Halloween today :)

I sent a small Halloween package to my friend Amanda this year. I found a cute DIY wood canvas kit at Target that I thought she'd have fun working on. I also sent her a Disney die cut that she was looking for and two books by Patricia Briggs that she hadn't read yet. I found the books while on one of my used bookstore jaunts. I knew I hadn't read them so I picked them up and as luck would have it I could pass them on to Amanda because she hadn't read them either ;)

In September I was looking on the Internet for a cute Halloween/Fall crochet pattern to make for Amanda's package. I found the pumpkin coasters pattern on Ravelry. Aren't they adorable? I love the ruffle edges.

I was hoping to get a better picture of the coasters, but my cell phone camera has trouble taking accurate photos of crocheted items. It will either make the picture darker than real life or wash out the colors completely. I just can't seem to win with it.

In other non-Halloween related news, I ordered fabric from MCG Textiles website. I got it in yesterday. I had sent a comment in with my order requesting a more creme colored fabric instead of their 'new' version of antique white evenweave. Well, they tried to help, but it still doesn't match what I had used previously. The color they sent was creme, but it was a dark creme instead of a light creme.

So on to Plan B.....well, I really don't have a Plan B.......but it will probably involve going to the store and buying some creme colored linen......assuming I can find it since Hobby Lobby has cut down on their selection of linens and evenweave in the needlework dept.

Anywho, I hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween!!!

Pattern: Crochet Waves Scarf by Michael's
Yarn: Caron Cakes Bumbleberry
Hook: size I
Start/Finish: 10/21-22/2017

I broke out my crochet hook this weekend and starting stitching on a freebie pattern that I found at Michael's last weekend. I have several Caron Cakes sitting in my yarn stash and I finally used one on this lovely wavy scarf pattern.

I chose the bumbleberry color because purple is one of my favorites. I sent a few hours on Saturday crocheting and all of Sunday as well. I find it amusing that the 'completion time' on this pattern is supposed to be 4 hours...........I'm convinced that maybe my aunt can finish it in that amount of time, but I'm slow when it comes to regular, non-amigurumi crocheting. LOL

All in all, a perfect way to spend a extremely rainy Sunday. Crocheting, drinking tea, and eating an absurd amount of Oreos!!

I hope you guys have a great week! My coworker and I will attending a workshop in FL later this week. Work away from work!!! Fantastic!
Pattern: Frosty Friends by Blue Ribbon Designs
Fabric: 28ct lambswool Jobelan linen by Wichelt
Threads: recommended
Start/Finish: 10/11-19/2017

I know, I know....what happened to fall stitching in October? Or at least normal stitching in October? I have a completely valid excuse, I promise, I can produce a doctor's excuse if I need to.....I'm pretty sure I can, anyway ;)

I was hoping to start on Jardin Prive's Eiffel Tower design using the same color thread scheme that was called for in the Marquise design. I was even hoping to use the same color fabric for the design. And that's when the universe went frolicking off into a field of rainbows without me.

So checking my fabric (28ct antique white evenweave by MCG Textiles), I noticed that it didn't match my Marquise design. I thought okay, maybe it's just mislabeled. Went by Hobby Lobby and Joann's Fabrics....and no, it wasn't mislabeled. I think they have changed the dye lot of the fabric so instead of a creme colored fabric called antique white, it is now off white colored fabric called antique white.

I've been online to see if anyone is selling the old color and looking at MCG Textiles' website, it looks like they might.........so I am going to have to buy some. I really want the Eiffel Tower to match the Marquise design......I know, I'm a glutton for punishment by insisting on this fabric color, but what I can say......nothing except I'm a glutton. LOL

So while searching for fabrics, I have been stitching several Christmas designs to past the time. Two very cute designs by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery and a lovely snowman design by Blue Ribbon Designs :)

I'll probably make the Blue Ribbon Designs piece into an ornament and save the Frosted Pumpkin designs for a future finish.

Until next time ^____^

Good morning, everyone! Long time no blog, right?! I haven't been lazing around since the last time I posted. Just busy with crafting, reading, etc.

During the month of September and October, I was busy stitching a lot of mini designs by JBW Designs. There are from her Fall Collection and the Halloween Ornament series. I used 28ct antique white M.C.G. Textile evenweave for the Halloween designs and 28ct Jobelan lambswool linen by Wichelt for the fall designs.

Do you guys remember the Christmas ornaments I made last year for my friends? Well, I am hoping to turn the fall/Halloween designs into ornaments for myself.

I've been on the lookout for finishing trim, but the only thing I have found so far is a pack of trim at Hobby Lobby. I was hoping to find some fall colored trim for the other ornaments, but no luck. A lot of the trim was way too big and would look weird around the cross stitch piece.

I haven't had any luck on finding ribbon to go inside the ornaments either....sigh....

I'll keep my eyes open and see if I get lucky, but I doubt I will this year. A lot of the stores are already putting out Christmas crafts. I might have to put my ornaments away until next summer (cuz that's when the crazy stores put out fall merchandise) and see what I can find.

Good afternoon. I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day holiday. Yesterday, I was able to finish backstitching and beading my Snow White pattern.

She is 'unofficially' finished. I have a blue ribbon to add to the top of her apron and a thread bow to add to her crown, but I will be adding those prior to getting her framed.

The only 'change' I made to her was the crown section. She is supposed to have five rosettes on her crown, but I'm not good at using DMC memory thread. I couldn't get a decent looking rose to save my life so I made them as well as I could and decided to stop after making three of them.....otherwise I was in danger of throwing my DMC memory thread across the room in frustration. LOL

Since it is the start of September already, I will switch gears to fall/autumn stitching as this is my favorite time of year. I'll be working on my Mill Hill kit and possibly some JBW designs.

Have a great day! And a good rest of the week!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are enjoying the month of August. I've been busy stitching and reading for the most part. Anything to keep my mind off of work, which is crazy like usual and doesn't make any sense at the moment.

At the beginning of the month, I was able to finish up Patriotic Picnic Group 2 by Brooke's Books. I think my favorite part was the beading. Who would think that would be relaxing, but it was....who knows why. I love how to adds a bit of sparkle and texture to the designs. My favorite motifs were the soda bottle (which reminds me of Japanese ramune soda!) and the adorable little s'more.

I had bought this kit on Etsy from Brooke's shop. I noticed that on the front cover, the design should have had an additional motif of a star shaped cookie. When I emailed Brooke about it, she said it was a mistake from when the chart was published.

I asked if she could send me a PDF of the cookie chart and guess what?!?!!? She sent me a PDF for the other two ornament charts, one of which had the cookie chart in it. She said she was happy that I liked stitching her kawaii designs and sent them to me for free because I liked them so much.

How amazing it that?! It made my day. I mean really, it did. I was planning on buying those kits from her shop so when she sent the charts to me for free, I was speechless.

I really, really hope she decides to make more kawaii designs! Since she sent me the PDFs, I went out to Hobby Lobby and bought more threads and perforated paper for them. I bought the specialty threads at 123stitch, but I won't embellish any of the designs with the threads until I have them all stitched and beaded.

As you guys know we had a solar eclipse on Monday. My sister and her librarian friends had made pin hole cameras from cereal boxes. I decided to use paper plates for a pin hole camera. About fifteen minutes before the eclipse was at its totality, I made a camera out of a small priority mailing box, but guess what? I forgot to put a hole in it and when I was outside and made a hole with my keys, the hole was too big so it didn't work.

LOL So my paper plates were useful as a backup camera. My coworker and I went out to the bridge beside our building to view the eclipse. At first we weren't sure we would be able to see the eclipse as there was a huge cloud overhead (see image). We had nine minutes until totality!! Luckily, the cloud moved just in time for us to view the eclipse with my paper plates. A lot of our other coworkers joined us on the bridge after our boss went back inside. (Side note: our boss lacks social skills and whenever she interacts with any of us outside of a work situation, awkwardness ensues.....so when she left, everyone scrambled over to us.)

I'm glad we were able to see the eclipse. There were some public works employees on the bridge and they let me borrow their eclipse glasses to view the eclipse before totality. Several of our coworkers were luckily enough to have eclipse glasses too.

There should be another solar eclipse in 2024 which should go from CA to FL so I hope I can get some eclipse glasses for it! I wish it wasn't on a week day because I think an eclipse viewing party would be fun. Maybe I should make a note to take that day off in 2024.....LOL.....only 7 years away....that's quite a 'reminder' note.
Pattern: Dress Up Collection - The Fairy Tale Princess, #2 Snow White by Brooke's Books
Fabric: 28ct crystal mello Cashel opalescent
Threads: recommended
Start: 8/10/2017

My start after finishing the Patriotic Picnic design was Snow White from Brooke's Books' Dress Up Collection. I have been stitching on it everyday and am 90% done with it. I am working on filling in the colored areas of the black skirt. After that I have her apron to stitch and the small bird on the right side and lastly add the embellished brooch and stitch her crown.

I hope I can finish this design by the end of August as I have several autumn/Halloween designs I would like to start.

I want to get her framed, but haven't decided on how and when. I wonder if I should wait until I have more of the series stitched up and have them framed at one time.....that way the framing style matches......hmmm.....

There are several other designs in the series that I would like to stitch up, but that evolves money for fabric so I will probably wait to stitch another design later this year or early next year because I'll need to stop by a needlework shop to look at fabrics.

Anywho, I hope you are enjoying your weekend. If you guys are in the TX area, be safe and use common sense!

With the last of my birthday Etsy card money from Kristina, I bought the Yummy Stitches Patriotic Picnic Group #2 set by Brooke's Books.

I started last Wednesday and was able to finish the watermelon. Since I took today off from work to get some rest after the convention, I was able to work on a few more motifs, the pinwheel and part of the basket.

I need to buy the specialty DMC memory threads. While my sister and I were at Accents, Inc. on Thursday, I bought one of the memory thread colors because it works for this project and the Snow White design. I plan on ordering the rest of the memory threads online because they are cheaper.

I can't wait to work more on this pattern. The motifs are adorable. I really, really hope that Brooke decides to design more 'kawaii' motifs for each season or holiday!!! They make great ornaments or even bunting banners :)

I had ordered her Dress Up Collection from her Etsy shop earlier in July. She had a deal where you could sign up for the twelve monthly princess designs at 50% off, which I figured was a great deal because I already liked five of the designs she had put out so far and at the discount rate, you were basically getting six charts for free.

I ordered those and accessory packs which were also 50% off. The packs came with the beads and/or perforated paper needed to make the crowns, etc. in the design.

I hope to start the Snow White design in August. Beside the Cinderella design, Snow White was my second favorite of the collection. I love how the skirt is decorated. Reminds me of children's illustrations of the fairy tale.
