Happy Halloween!

Gather A Harvest

Design: Gather a Harvest by Lizzie Kate
Threads: Recommended DMC
Fabric: 28ct cream colored Zweigart
Start/Finish: 10/17-20 & 25/2010

My aunt and I are debating in a friendly way, of course, about whether I should finish the bottom motif of this design, but I really love the pumpkins by themselves without the blocked leaves at the bottom.

I was hoping to get some 'finishing' done this weekend, but alas I was busy getting ready for Halloween and attending a wedding so those plans went out the window. Maybe I'll get something accomplished this weekend if I don't get sidetracked with other things.

Until next time ^____^

Halloween gifts!

Hi! My friend received her Halloween package and since I promised to post pics of the contents, here you go:

Lots of goodies! Candy, a TY bear named 'Twilight' and a Frankenstein bear, stationery goods, Vampire Knits book (has Twilight/New Moon themed designs), and a coffee thermos from Starbucks.

The JCS issues for Halloween and Christmas and a catalog from the museum, MMOA, in town of Marian Acker Macpherson, an etcher of Old Mobile houses.

This little guy went to live with my friend in CA. I forgot to show this pillow wrapped, but I wrapped it in the Boo! wrapping paper.

I hope you liked your package, my dear friend! Happy Halloween to you ;)

Until next time ^_______^

PBS Sherlock - A Study in Pink review

Only one word to sum up PBS Sherlock - A Study in Pink - BRILLIANT!

No longer addicted to a seven-percent solution, it's a three patch problem as Holmes would say. Nicotine patches that is!

If you missed it, don't despair! PBS has it available to view online until December 7th.

Until next time ^___^

O___O ......WOW!

Yes, that was my brain after opening a package I received in the mail today from my dear friend in CA! Of course, I had to share pictures of my loot!

Thank you, sweetie! I loved EVERYTHING....including the dancing puppy, which made me laugh for a good ten minutes ;)

The packaging for the gifts along with a whole pile of letters/cards, which I read immediately.

Inside of boxes. I loved the wrapping paper on the gifts!

Such great gifts! Cross stitch kits, a dancing witch-dog, a magnifier for crafting, cute little ceramics (love the mini cottage!), a handmade bracelet, and two pieces of Swarvoski.

Wow! Talk about being spoiled!!!!

Close-up of ceramics and cross stitch kits ;)

This bracelet BLEW me away! I was telling my mother and sister that my stitching just doesn't compare to the amount of time it must have taken my friend to make the bracelet for me. Isn't it gorgeous? The picture is 'clickable'.

The camera was giving me trouble when I tried to take pictures of the two Swarvoski pieces so I found some pics to show what they look like.

A very beautiful mini blossom pendant. It is so adorable!

*SQUEAL* I must admit that I 'geeked' out when I saw this little guy when I opened the box by saying, "It's an ichigo!" I love it!!!

Thanks again my friend! I'll write soon.

Until next time ^____^

Pumpkins progress

Hi, everyone! I hope you are enjoying the work week so far. I've made some more progress on my Gather A Harvest design and thought I'd share it with you.

I think I like the second pumpkin's color better than the pumpkin in the middle of the design. I hope to work on the design tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get it finished by the end of the week and maybe, just maybe, I'll get it 'finished' into something this weekend ;)

Until next time ^____^

For the Love of Pumpkins!

Design: Gather a Harvest
Threads: Recommended DMC
Fabric: 28ct cream colored Zweigart
Start: 10/17/2010

I started this design after stitching a bit on my LHN Rose in the Morning this afternoon. The colors I am using are a lot darker than the alternative, which is GAST, but I think it works for the pumpkins ;)

I hope you have enjoyed your weekend!

Until next time ^____^

Halloween package and a BIG Thank You!

Hello again! I sent out my Halloween package to a dear friend in CA yesterday morning before heading downtown to the main branch of the library and Sukoshi Con.

I took a picture of everything wrapped before I packed them away. I can't post a picture of the contents yet. You will have to wait until October 25th when it arrives in CA. You would think it won't take so long with UPS, but at least it will be there on the week of Halloween ;)

I found the wrapping paper at Target in their greeting card section! Don't you love it?! I have a lot of it left over for next year ;) The bat take-out box is from Michael's!

Speaking of Halloween, THANK YOU so much for all of your comments on my Eek pillow! I've never received so many comments before and I appreciate all of them.

I hope you are enjoying a lovely Sunday!

Until next time ^____^

Geekiness

Hi, everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend. Yesterday I went to Sukoshi Con, a one day anime convention that travels around AL. I had a fun time watching AMVs and seeing everyone's costumes or Lolita dresses.

Since I had pre-registered for the event, I received a free gift, a very CUTE bunny headband! In the dealers room, I found an adorable Totoro plushie for my sister as we have both loved Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro since we were children.

The convention was held in downtown Mobile at the Admiral Semmes hotel, which is absolutely gorgeous inside with crystal chandeliers everywhere and old photographs of Mobile lining the walls.

The neat thing about the convention was the fact that the organizers said that if we can get one thousand pre-registrations next year we can have a three day event, which would be GREAT! As most conventions that size are usually in upper AL, FL, or GA.

Until next time ^____^

Eek pillow

Hi, everyone! I just finished blind stitching my Eek design into a pre-made pillow! It is joining my other pillow finishes for a while ;)

Isn't it cute?

Design: Eek by Pine Mountain Designs
Threads: DMC
Fabric: Unknown color and count
Start/Finish: 9/4/2010, finished in pillow: 10/11/2010

What do you think? My LNS has a lot of the pillow kits on sale for around $10 to make room for newer stock. I might have to purchase some other designs the next time I'm in the shop ^___^

The kits actually come with Aida and thread for those of you who like to use Aida for your cross-stitching. I opted for linen and chose a dark brown from my stash.

In other news, I did some housework this morning and started to stitch on my LHN design only to find that I was still off in my stitches!!! So I patiently went back and counted through all my lettering and found out where the problem was and proceeded to pull out my stitches for a third time! (sigh) Well, now I'm on track!

I hope you're enjoy some nice Fall weather and having fun with your October projects.

Until next time ^___^

Rose in the Morning

Hi, everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend and enjoying some nice weather!

After doing some shopping this morning, I worked a bit on my LHN design.

Design: Rose in the Morning by Little House Needleworks
Threads: Recommended Crescent Colours and DMC B5200
Fabric: 32ct waterlily Jobelan
Start: 10/02/2010

I actually got through the lettering after the comma and part of the fence, but then I noticed my count was off by just one TINY stitch! (sigh) So I had to pull out the lettering and stitch it again. I decided to go with the DMC B5200 for the fence and the white areas in the sampler because the recommended color Petite Maison was not showing up nicely on the color fabric I had chosen.

I haven't been stitching on this design as much as I would like. I've been doing everything else and catching a little bit of stitching in the mornings. Hopefully, I'll have more motivation to stitch this week ;)

I've been shopping for a friend for her annual Halloween package. I love shopping for others especially around the holidays. Once I've sent the package and it has been received, I'll post a picture!

Until next time ^___^

A Sweet start!

Design: Rose in the Morning by Little House Needleworks
Threads: Recommended Crescent Colours
Fabric: 32ct waterlily Jobelan
Start: 10/02/2010

A very small, but sweet start to my LHN design amidst laundry loads! I hope to stitch on it some more tomorrow. I am loving it so far as the color of the linen is perfect for the thread colors.

Until next time ^____^

Stitchery and antiques

Hi, everyone! It is a gorgeous day on the Gulf Coast. A clear blue sky and a light breeze...just perfect for shopping for some stitching fabrics/threads and antiquing.

I ran by my LNS and purchased two pieces of fabric, 32ct waterlily Jobelan and 28ct cream Jobelan, for two designs I want to stitch this month. I also purchased some lovely colors of Crescent Colour threads!

Afterwards I went by a used bookstore to browse the shelves. I found two books that I couldn't live without (LOL which isn't necessarily true, but I couldn't resist them!). I found a copy of Oliver Twist published by Collins Clear-Type Press. It is a small soft leather bound book that includes sixteen photographs by F.W. Burford of the main characters of the novel. So far I haven't found alot of information on book's date, I would hazard to guess maybe 1910-1920. My favorite photography is of Bill Sikes and Fagin leaning across a table speaking of Oliver. I don't know who they are, but they look perfect in the roles!

The book is not in the best condition, the front and back covers are barely holding on. I think I might get it rebound in the future or a least get a small archival box for it to rest in if I change my mind.

I also found a needlecraft book called Golden Adventure Book of Needlecraft published in 1961. I love the whimsical cartoons used to illustrate the text.

Until next time ^____^

Autumn display and activities

Hi, everyone! For those of you on the Gulf Coast, I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather as much as I am! My favorite season has finally made its appearance not only outside, but inside as well.

While taking a picture of my Pumpkin Patch design, I decided that I needed to change the living room display from playful bunnies and a pitcher full of hydrangeas to some of my autumn items from last year ;)

Speaking of Fall and all the fun things to do during the season, for those of you that live in Ontario there is an event called The Victoriana Show: A Celebration of Elegance coming up. I picked up the latest issue of Romantic Homes this evening at Target because it had some lovely ideas for stitchery gifts and I ran across the ad for the Victoriana Show. I'm so jealous!!! The show runs from October 22-24. For those who are interested, the website is www.victorianashow.com.

(sigh) Well, I'm not too disappointed. The local museum in town is hosting two new exhibitions towards the end of the month, American Landscapes and Illustrating Fairytales! I can't wait.....especially for the Fairytale exhibition! One of my favorite children's illustrators is in the exhibition, Kinuko Y. Craft ^___^

Until next time!! Have fun with your fall activities!!
